What is geofencing?

Geofencing is a digital fence around a physical location. You can target mobile devices within that zone specifically. Phones continuously emit anonymous signals for GPS and wifi; by tracking these you can show ads, both during and after a visit to the area. Where Google Ads targets to roughly 1 kilometre, geofencing goes to within 7 to 27 metres.
